Available to all employees, a flexible spending account is a pre-tax deduction set aside for actual amounts spent on medical expenses and/or dependent care. You can pay these costs with pre-tax salary money, thereby legally avoiding some income tax, and getting more for your salary dollar. The amount to be deposited in your flexible spending account is determined by you each year.
